The hack

Posting full versions of your content on Reddit as long-form posts instead of links.

Why it works

Reddit is the same as other social networks. It wants users to stay on there as long as possible to get their worth of ad revenue. It doesn't like posts with just a link that leads people away from the platform.

Redditors themselves don't like link posts very much either. A lot of people are now posting links to everything they ever made in hopes people will find it.

When you look at subreddits with more active audiences like EntrepreneurRideAlong and wallstreetbets they have almost no link posts and almost exclusively long-form posts.

Those posts feel like original work, written just to be shared there. It screams that this is an exclusive thing that you won't be able to read anywhere else.

If it's really good content people will read it, like it, and comment on it. And if you give them the option to subscribe for more, or just see other posts you've already written, they will. Giving you eyeballs or even an email for free.

How to do it

The requirement for this is a good-quality written post. Reddit is a mean place and mediocre content won't work, the opposite. It can actually decrease your Karma (your profile ranking).

Focus on telling something interesting. Generic posts like listicles, with your tool at the top, won't work. Try instead talking about something related to what you do. The less it feels like you're marketing to the readers the better.

Pick the right subreddit

Once you have the post find the right subbredit. It's better to pick a niche one that has an active audience than go after wallstreetbets. Or go for large subreddits that don't have a lot of people posting there.

The best ones are like AdPorn, they have 450k members, but almost no one posts there. This means there is very little competition, but if you get the initial traction, you can reach a lot of people.

Add a good call to action

Once you post the full post there, make sure you add a killer call to action at the end and/or in the comments. Copy like this works just fine:

If you enjoyed this post, go ahead and subscribe to get more like this.

The next one is going to be about [insert interesting topic], so don't miss it.

Getting likes

Once you post it try getting as many likes as possible to it. Asking friends or using multiple Reddit accounts is the easiest way to do it.

You can also try generating more comments by writing something controversial under your post from a different account.

For example, if you're talking about a thing people generally like, comment that you think it's crap. This gets people's attention and they'll comment on it.

Now there is two people talking. That's a conversation and that helps you get more eyeballs.
