The hack

Send an email to people who commented on ProductHunt launches.

Why it works

This is similar to emailing the makers hack.

Email ProductHunt makers who just launched
The hack Send an email to makers who just posted their product. Why it works Makers are very receptive to all incoming communication. Imagine you’ve just posted what you’ve been working on for months. You probably going to read every email with a subject like: “Great work on the PH

The difference is that with this you can email people who are already using products to solve a specific issue.

If your tool is related to it, those commenters are potential customers.

How to do it

  1. Identify the relevant tools

Go into the launch archive and find tools that are related to the challenges your tool helps to solve.

It doesn't have to be a direct alternative. It's even better if it's just related.

For example, if people commented on a tool like Ghost or Substack they already have something for sending out newsletters. What they might lack is an AI-copy assistant to help them write those newsletters.

Thinking like this will expand the potential pool of people.

  1. Email people who commented

Most commenters have their social media or websites connected. Go through them and find their email.

Once you have that, depending on how good of a fit the tool is for them, craft the email. Here is an example going directly for the sale.

RE: ProductHunt

Body:
Hi, saw you've tried [tool they commented on] last month. How is it working for you so far?

I've had a few people come to me from [tool they commented on] looking for a complementary product to help them [thing your product does]. Would that be you as well?

I've built [your tool] that does exactly that. It's free to use, so they are no strings attached. Just wanted to share, since you may find it useful.

Feel free to go for something safer or even use the email in the related article linkedin at the top.
